Run tracert command in Python but stop at "request timed out"

I need to tracert an IP and I am doing it like this:

print(subprocess.Popen('tracert ' + ip, stdout=subprocess.PIPE, shell=True).stdout.read())

However, this takes a long time because it runs all 30 hops even though it finished at hop 9. How can I get it to stop once the 'Request Timed Out'? I have to do this with many IPs, so it can finish at any hop, not just 9 in this case. Is this the best way to do it, or is there another module of technique?

Thanks!
