I have been following the guide on AWS Node JS Deploy the Sample Application. The sample files worked well, but after I added a domain alias to the beanstalk environment url, even though the site can be accessed with custom domain, but it seems everything under "/static" folder (img, theme, scripts, css) can not be accessed and getting 404.

I was able to fix this by adding "/static" under Software Configuration.

But I can not understand why this fix the issue. and what was the issue in the first place. Also after running app.js on my local, the static files don't load on my localhost. Can anybody please explain the issue to help me understand. Thanks
