this input button is a button that is being generated with another button. i.e. when you click a certain button, this input button gets created. <input type='submit' id='nextBtn' value='Next'>

I'm trying to use this jquery click function to output this alert, but it's not working for some reason. I do have other submit inputs that are working like this, but for some reason, this particular button won't alert the screen when clicked.

$('#nextBtn').click(function(){
        alert("ok this is now working");
});

it might be worth noting, that i am using a localhost, MAMP to be specific

Essentially what I need to happen is to set up a grid, but if one of the elements is missing, another element stretches to fill the space
