This question already has an answer here:

  • check to see if a domain is available or not using PHP? 5 answers
  • Get the site status - up or down 5 answers

I am trying to setup a cron or php script which can go through all domain names in my database and see if they are live or dead. If dead i would like to delete that row.

i know how to run a select query to grab all the domains, but don't know how to execute a check for live domains.

please suggest how it can be done. Thanks,
