connect database on website localhost

Help, Im recently want to connect my website at localhost phpmyadmin, and Im on Linux OS(Ubuntu 16.04 LTS), I fail to connect my website then I don't know if is come from me or is the wrong parameters on my php script,thanks for your arguments

Hello so I installed mariadb today and as soon as I was done installing this error occurredNow, this sort of makes sense to me because while maria is the replacement for sql I imagine naming conventions and such are still different
