Boolean comparison == and === [on hold]

I'm trying to understand,

Why does false == true return true and true == true return true?

Lets say I am getting bool from $('#form #chkbox').is(':checked');

And when I do if (bool == true) { echo "ok"; }, how come the statement returns true regardless if the bool variable is true or false?
